I had rehydrated some african skins with salt and water which is how I always do this and have always had good results.  I had started a soak and had to pickle before I'd wanted due to unforseen circumstances.  they were relaxed ok but could be better.  My question is can you take them out of the pickle and soak em a bit more in the relaxing mix, to get them a little better or should i just leave them in the pickle and hope they soften a bit more?

i am having the same problem with an impala cape. i put it in the pickle thinking it would rehydrate and its still quite hard. i did try the RelaxeR solution painted on it and let it sit for 2 hours put its still hard. i was wondering the same thing. can i take the cape out of the pickle and put it into a relaxer solution?
old shaver you say that wouldnt be a good thing?

Did you have a good look at what color the salt was when you took it out of the crate?
Secondly does the skin have a sort of marble look to it.
Is the cape from Zim?
Cheers.
