Squirrel tan??

I just read over the post and the replies about squirrel tan or DP. The other day when I was mounting a squirrel, I thought about doing it like fish tan. Puttin a cup of DP to a gallon of H2O and place the squirrel in it for 10 hours? Do you think this would work? I just might have to go out this fall and get a squirrel to try it.

You got a lot to learn about pH. If you put a skin in water and borax, you're going to raise the pH to a high 8 and after 10 hours, you might just end up with squirrel leather. Water is not your friend with perishable hides.

Listen to George. Skin it-turn it-DP it-mount it. Rub the DP in good and mount it as quick as you can to cut the risk of slipping.
