I have a coyote and coon in one batch of Krowtann, and a deer cape in another batch.  When I checked on them today, the water in the yote and coon's bucket was almost as clear as tap water. The deer cape bucket looks the same  as when i mixed it.
Anyone seen this before?  They have been in the mix for 2 days, and both batches were mixed on the same day.

No. Its always been the washed out brown color. Doesn't really have time to settle. I stir it up each day.

I have been lifting the skins out, and putting them back in once a day, as the directions said. I am wondering since the lid on the yote and coon bucket is not as tight as the one on the deer bucket, maybe i am getting some evaporation.

Most expensive thing about quality is ignoring it.

Krotann has oil in it, makes it a little brown, Maybe he quit putting oil in. As far as the smell in krowtann it is formic acid, not good for you at all but if formic acid it is diluted @ 8 oz. per four gallons of water it is only 2% formic and your Ph will be 2 or below.  2-10% formic is only considers a irritant if you  get it on you or if you breath it.    If you have access to formic acid you can use it in the same manner as  krotann. When I use formic I use a salt brine overnight mainly to clean my hides up and get them ready for my formic pickle but if you want to flesh your hides green before you drop, basically get them ready to mount. Then you can skip the  salt brine, Keep in mind I only do this when I have got my hide fleshed well on the machine / thinned out face and all.  I always rub Liqua Tan my hides as well, Keeps them from drying out as much and keeps them more pliable. I have several pieces I have cut off after mounting, If you spend a few minutes a day working the hide for a couple of days  you would be amazed at the leather quality. I have been using formic on whitetail for almost 20 years so if anyone has any questions I would be glad to answer.  Thanks
