take a tub of water,  float a plastic garbage sack on the water,  next  pour resin and art snow mixed  onto the garbge sack     wait for it to kick  then,  you have a realistic ice base to work from..

Here is a base I did a couple months ago. The ice is simply WASCO's Artificail water resin mixed with salt to get the right consistancy and color. The more salt added, the whiter and thicker it becomes. The icicles are cotton balls that are saturated with the resin and shaped with a popsicle stick. They are very easy methods, it's getting the ratio correct on mixing the resin that can be a challenge sometimes. Hope this helps and good luck- Scott

Another easy way is to mix WASCO's artificial snow with clear silicone and spread the mixture in a thin layer over plexi (you can paint the underside of the plexi for a darker deep water look.)

dang!  the more responces i get the easier this all sounds Grin Wink

Ron, can you vary the temp of the water to kick it quicker? do you break up the resulting cast (to be filled in later i presume) to fit a desired base shape?

Rebecca- do you have any pics of the results? i would like to try this technique to keep the offgassing of the resin out of my garage.

Thanks...

actually  you can use accelerator or gel promoter with your resin to cut down kick time  and yes,  you can score the resin and break into handier segments  can also be sanded on the edges to fit a base etc...after installing in a base,  you can add layers of artifcial snow and resin  to get that melted edge look.....
