Please don't take this a defence of FedEx or any of the other "delivery companies", but lets look at the situation this time of year.

UPS delivered something like 20 MILLION packages on Monday alone, the odds are just too great that something will be damaged , lost or stolen. The volume that all the package carriers handle is up this time of year, that in itself scares me.

Last year my daughter got a temp package handler/drivers assistant job with UPS over the Christmas rush period. She got the job because she was a fill in driver for one of the other delivery companies(she delivered pharmaceuticals and had to pass a complete background check) for  several years and had experience. Because of the volume that UPS handles they need a lot of temp help this time of year and hire a lot of "questionable types" just to get the work done. She got the job because she has a law enforcement background and specifically was hired to "keep an eye open" for certain activities. Her advise to me was to "NEVER, EVER" ship anything between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I hope that you were insured to the max. FedEx has no excuse when it comes to a package like that.

I'm pissed because Fed Ex doesn't want to open up criminal investigate or call the police in on it
I do hope I make the national news, they are going to look like they are covering up crime in my opinion.
I'll scream my opinions from the highest mountain on this one.
It will cost them a lot just in advertising to recoup what I'm going to let the general public know about my experiances with them. And find out if I can get the attorney general to charge them with covering up a crime.

UPS would not even talk to you until a certain time has expired; usually a month.  Then UPS WILL AUTOMATICLLY DENY any claim with the wording taxidermy or mount or antlers on it even if lost or involved in a truck or plane crash by them; This IS UPS company policy for taxidermy.  They all suck. Nice mount btw.  Also do not forget these companies hire seasonal prisoner and ex con type laborers this time of the year because 1/2 of the salary is paid by the government, plus it gives them tax breaks.  Good luck.

Lost packages are not good for anyone but you need to prepare yourself with the fact that the client or customer will blame you not the company you ship with for whatever goes wrong up until they hold it in their hands. And if they are as upset as you are and your planning on legal action as well as planning to publicly bash them then you better be ready to receive the same from your customer. I've had shipments lost in the past but only one was never found it takes about a month for some to show up some a few days. You didn't say if you had any information printed on the crates other than shipping labels (always put your shipper # or phone # on at least 4 sides of the crate in either paint or marker) so your crate can be identified if the labels are damaged or rubbed off. If you did have an account then you should have a rep. I'm not talking about the pick of the draw you get by calling the 800 # , a person in charge of your account personally they can get to what really is going on(they can get in contact with the people at the terminals that will really work at finding your crate for you) good luck .

i always ship FedEx, never had a problem yet, but you have to right the value down of the item you are shipping and if you dont, FedEx is only liable to give you a $100.00. it only cost pennies to insure, i always insure for double what i am shipping. I am the one that puts a value on how much it cost to replace not fedex

As someone who does this for a living, I am very sad to hear of your loss.  I do agree with the post that Anthony made about the account representative.  By dialing the customer service line, you are going to get passed through the system with little or no accountability.  I know in my service, as a shipping customer, you would have an individual representative to work one on one with.  In a case like this, that cuts down on the number of people giving you a "number" of stories.  If you have an account representative with your shipper, that person is going to have access to much more information and details about the shipment.  Again, sad to hear about it cause that was one sweet buck!!

I've spoken with the rep, then ,moved on , drove directly to the first Hub. I've had a face to face meeting in the office of the executive director of the Pontiac hub, Spoken to three other hub HEAD supervisors , the main corporate offices of Fed-Ex in Memphis now have it in hand, Somebody IS going to Jail over this one, they picked the wrong piece to steal,
CBS NBC ABC MSNBC CNN and others have been send the entire story of this
This will be picked up by one ore more, it's to hot not to , Fed-Ex stock on a downward spiral in the last year reported by MSNBC Just yesterday, and it's still dropping and the holiday shipping rush has reached it's peak. Add this and it makes headlines.
I've also contacted all executive officers of Fed-ex corp in Tenn and sent them all three page story of this fiasco. Then contacted there media rep,and the investment group that sells investing in Fed-Ex and gave them the story that I have sent to every news group I can and still am finding.
Hope they All have a very Merry Christmas

It hasn't been two weeks yet. The shipping companies are busting their asses this time of year trying to get all the little booger eaters their Christmas presents on time. All Fed-Ex, UPS, USPS shipping hubs are under video surveillance. I doubt someone would have the balls to steal your mount. I'm willing to bet your crate is set aside so the smaller packages can get out on time. 10-1 odds your crate mysteriously shows up shortly after Christmas.

Even if it does show up after Christmas, that isn't the point, he paid to have it delivered on time, period. Something that big just doesn't get stuffed behind the seat, or fall off the shelf of the delivery truck. Someone read the sender address and easily figured out what was inside. It's in somebody's home on the wall by now. They can start with the driver where the label was found on the floor of his truck.

Not to get off topic here, but B&C??? What did that deer officially score??? Don't get me wrong, it's a beautiful 10 point mainframe, but it doesn't look like it would make 170. If it did, then I need to get my two deer here officially scored as my 11 and 12 point both came up about 5 inches shy of the record book with my measuring tape. And both APPEAR a bit bigger than this deer. Maybe I'm measuring wrong??? To me that deer looks like it may have a 20-21 inch spread and after deductions looks to be in the upper 150's or MAYBE low 160's. But then again, maybe it's girthier and wider than the pic is showing??? Not trying to be a jerk here, I'm just curious. What did it officially score/net B&C???
