I'm not trying to be a smart @ss here, but you asked the question about Juv Swans and the bill color a while back. We had a few guys here in Utah...harvest some a few days ago. I found a "fresh kill" pic and wanted to post the colors on the Juv Swan bill for reference.

Very young bird. I took in a couple from MT a couple of weeks ago. They were the same weight as an adult female , about 17#. Their bills were black or very dark umber , showing no side marking.

Thats ok Jay,,I had never seen a juvenille colored bill in the thirty or so ive done,,,and made a queston comment about it MONTHS AGO,,,,,but it seems STUFFINDUCKS has had a complex over it all this time...

I was looking at the Canada on bird of the week and it looked like the bill was unpainted. Do you wait till after mounting your birds to paint?
