Greetings, I'm not really into Taxidermy so I hope you don't mind me dropping in. The reason for my post is to pass on something that I stumbled on that may be of use to anyone wanting to restore the color of weathered Moose antler.

I was given a very weathered Moose rack to use as "craft" material. The "gray" color didn't suit me so I experimented with the left over bits and this is what I came up with.

Before recoloring ,,,,





After recoloring,,,,,,









I used a Dark Brown leather dye. It soaks in very well and was quite easy to get an even color.



I hope that this info is of use to someone.

Thanks redbluff, I should also mention that I was going for a uniform color on this project. Varying shades are easy to produce with the leather dye.
