In Georgia,  NATIVE venomous snakes have not protection.  you can have one, dead or alive.  This protects the towns that put on Rattlesnake Roundups.

BUT,  you cannot have in your possesion a LIVE VENOMOUS snake that is NOT NATIVE to Ga.  No Cobras, Mambas, Gaboons, or even varous western species of Rattlesnake.  Can't have tham alive,  dead should be okay.

Georgia also offers protection to its NATIVE NON-VENOMOUS.  Not supposed to have a corn, king, pine, garter, etc. alive and I don't think you are supposed to kill one either.

You CAN have NON-NATIVE  NON-VENOMOUS.  It is okay to have a pet python or boa.

All this was done to let people keep pet snakes but protect the local harmless stuff, and at the same time allow the roundups.

As a disclaimer,  this is MY understanding of the Georgia Herp laws.

To directly answer the question,   NO, Rattlesnakes are not protected in Georgia.
