That's What I'm Talkin bout!

« on: January 15, 2009, 07:07:24 PM »

Here is a custom snake mouth I done for a member on here. He sent the head part of the form and I built up the mouth muscles and all with epoxy putty and added the real fangs and grabber teeth from a 6 foot Eastern diamondback. Then airbrushed the four colors I use and glossed. This is the finished piece ready to be sent back to Florida tomorrow. For those who don't think a snake requires any finish work on an open mouth mount, take a real good look. Michael P, Rooster, and Don this what your finished mouths will look like and anybody else that can wait until a mount can be finished. Roll Eyes Wink

Perry,

I have seen plenty of snakes with their mouths open, often coming at my hands/feet,  and I must say you have done a VERY GOOD JOB!  Reference, time and attention to detail pays off.

Congrats.

Thanks for all the complements on the mouth. Smiley

Joey P. Holmes, Your right! Several reference photos I took of an Eastern Diamondback in Florida helped tremendously. I even got this mouth a little too pink for an Eastern! One thing about this mouth is that if I was mounting it for myself I would have put more of a transparent sheath over much of the fangs, but that is not too popular for the commercial customer wanting to show them off. Cheesy

This head is off the McKenzie form RS69O and was really lacking in mouth detail. I guess I could have got the same results with a mouth insert, but sometimes you got to keep yourself in check and that it don't have to be "snap together" all the time. Also it don't hurt to keep your abilities level up.  Wink
