Tom, Tom, lets slow down here. First of all you have to keep in mind this was for a COMMERCIAL piece going out to another taxidermist for an everyday customer not a COMPITITION piece. While I said in the post I got this mouth a Little too pink for the species it is for, no big deal the customer will be tickled anyway. The post was mostly intended to showcase the muscle and tissue areas that were made with epoxy putty from looking at reference pictures and such. While I strongly believe that all snake mouths differ in color I do appreciate your expert opinion and knowledge, but I also believe that in commercial work you have to over do some of the realism in a mount to satisfy the individual that is paying the money. If this were a competition piece or my own personal piece I may have done it a little different. Such as more sheathing over the fangs and yes, more "whiter" of a mouth for and eastern diamondback. You know as well as I do if this mouth would have been more on the "white" side there would have been questions like "Is that for a cottonmouth?" and so on.
