I am starting from scratch with the next mount I am doing. they are kit foxes.
both of them are going to be open mouth.
unfortunately they were both road kill and had some damaged teeth.
I do not have a finished product yet but I thought I would show y'all what I am doing.
Top jaw that has been cut off of the skull with a band saw, and frozen.

Bottom jaw that has been pinned down to Styrofoam and a dam built around it.

I mix up some runny Alginate, and I pour it over the jaws.

After the alginate sets up pull the jaws out VERY VERY slowly.

Rinse out the molds and blow dry the molds (so there is no water pooling in the mold).
Mix up so plaster and lightly brush it into the molds start with the teeth and any other low spots. ( this will not allow air bubbles in you casting)

Slowly fill the molds with plaster, and let it set. I waited 45 mins.

Slowly break apart the mold ( be sure to do it slow and don't break the teeth)

After the plaster has air dried, I rebuilt the teeth and sealed the plaster jawset with modge podge.
Then I hot glued the jawset to a piece of foam and built a dam around it.

I then mixed up some silicone and hung it from a piece of wire and made a hole in the bottom of it, so it will slowly leak out onto the plaster positive.
The reason why I am letting it slowly leak out of the cup is it will break up most of the air bubbles in the silicone. I do not have a degassing machine. Degassing in will be more effective.
*****You can only use this method if you are using the slow set Silicone.*****

After the silicone has set up overnight, take the dam apart and remove the plaster.

With a plastic resin mix to instruction, and paint the low spots in the mold, just like I did with the plaster.

after you have the low spots filled with the plastic, pour more resin in the mold and rotate the mold around to make sure it has covered the mold completely, and let it setup.

Pull your casting.

now you have a very nice jawset and you will need to paint them to your reference.

Wanted to show y'all how small they were.
