I want to start this week off with a Blast from the past theme to the week. A few times a year we do this for the week in fish pictures however this doesn't mean that you can’t continue to share the great work your doing today’s as well! I had to laugh when I looked through an old photo album of my late grandmother Teresa. She had saved pictures of me I had never seen until this past week so this is my inspiration to share so old pictures along with the new this week!

This the oldest picture of my with a fish I know I have. Around 1980 this is a 17 year old fishhead named Ricky Krane on his way to church with a Bass for the Priest. I didn’t charge him as my grand parents would have killed me for even thinking it! I think if memories serve me that the Bass ended up smelling so bas he try to pray for the smell to go away then he prayed that I learned to better fish so I was told LOL!

Here is a competition piece from 1989. The days of big presentation to tell a story of a moment in time.

Here is a Rainbow from 1990 I did for Richard Christoforo's son in law.

Hello everybody,
what a great week the last one was. Thank you so much for the many kind words on that barbel. This week I have a 44 inch custom replica that I made after a customers photo without actually having the fish. I thought it may be nice to show how I did it. I only purchased a casted head and fins. Then I made a template for the body and carved it in foam. The foam was then covered with fiberglass and resin. Head and fins were installed and the common rebuilding of the fin- and head transition was made using apoxie. Finally I put a base coat of white on it. Fins still need to be bended into the desired position with heat.  Maybe I will make it to show it painted next time.

Everybody have a good week and keep the great work coming

DougP, that´s awesome!!!!

Oliver

Oliver, that IS very sharp!!
Way to be creative!

I had a customer back in the 80's that brought me a musky head and wanted a body added..LOL!!
I did it in a similar manner to yours but used a cloth material that simulated a scale pattern since resin was not compatible with the foam I use. Fins were sculpted with epoxy over a form. Came out OK,  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Great job Oliver!!

Here's a rainbow I finished this week, custom mold/cast.  Fifteen inches long with red tag in back:

Also a photo of a Northern that I posted back in December; the customer thought the former was too green and he wanted it brown.  Following the suggestion of Jeff, I sprayed red and came up with a more BROWN pike which the customer accepted.  It turned out darker than I would have wished but............................

Thanks for all the great posts you folks do showcasing the even GREATER work you do.

Jerry, what shade of red did you spray?  Was it a transparent red?

Yes, I put them in with a scaling tool. The tricky part here is that you have to  do it when the resin is still soft enough, but already hard enough to keep the pattern.
