Good Morning from New Hampshire!

Week # 14 is upon us. Thanks to everyone who has participated last week! Over 2000 hits again! Here we are in the first week of 2007. What did you learn this year from reading and visiting the WASCO forum? I bet it was a lot! I sure did! Last week we had some great fish form a lot of giving folks who don't mind sharing and helping others with some inspiration and cool fish!

Each week Pictures can be posted of recent work or work your proud of to show and share with your pears!

Everyone is welcome to post, from beginners to the advanced.

So here goes!

This week I thought I would start the year of 2007 with a little Walleye paint schedule and a few in stage photos for you! Enjoy! I was invited to do a bit of painting at a great friend in NJ! Hey GD!!!!

Quick paint schedule Repro Walleye
1 White fish off white
2 Black Umber the entire upper ½ of the fish and Payne's gray the lower section fish then remove with 00/000 steel wool
3 Off white mist over belly
4 wash coat of Amber oxide then lightly steel wool
5. I use a series of small scrubber brushes and Q-tips and make the markings, which will show a more yellow or lighter tone tot eh skin. I remove the color and move on to creating the faded barring on the back.
6 charcoal in the barring and spots lightly
7 hand paint the belly scales sparkling White / burnish sliver $ 2 filbert brush

Some pencil work now is done.
A.   I like a Derwent pencil color called middle chrome (it is a nice ocher looking yellow) I color the lower and mid sections of fish
B.   I next take a Yellow-green color pencil and tone the top of the fish.
C.   I at this point will use metallic pencils Gold's and bright bronze colors pre tipping the scales.

Powders. I use a mix of different colors depending on the fish.
Basically with the use of reference I will use a warm gold, a bright gold, and a dark or antique gold. I like to put some if not all 3 on some scales and not so many on others.

8 wash coat light bass green
9 powders tip the back with greens and gold's Seal
9 Wet tip the back 1/3 with yellow greens and greens with a dry brush polish the tipping and then seal.
10 lightly airbrush Trans med green over the top of the back 1/8
101Black Umber thinned detail the fins and mist over back
12 Black green mist the top of the fish top 1/8. .
13 Final tipping
14 Gloss

I hope this week and this year is a great one for you! Enjoy the fish this week!

My Best!

Rick Krane

150 lb. Mako head caught by longliners, they chopped it off right behind the jaw muscle. :oI had to mold it and reconstruct and build up the whole area starting at the corner of the mouth back. Lots of work, but i think it came out pretty well.
