The mini fleshers are ok, they do thin the hide but not great IMO the link you have posted is kinda the same concept, that where the idea for the flesher came I would assume.  but they are different.  the flesher has the proper guard to keep you from tearing holes all through your hide.  I have only done three deer hides so far and used the mini flesher, like I said it does work but they are expensive.  I'm sure alot of ppl love them i don't know.

People post get a fleshing machine instead of a miniflesher. I use both. They both do the job. Shave the hide with round knife and clean the ears, eyes, lips and nose with the miniflesher. They are equally important to me.

If you've never used a real machine, I suppose that "any port in the storm" counts.  As for me, been there, done that, ain't ever going back.  If I had one in a box, it would be on the "For Sale" category getting ready to ship to some poor sucker.

I have the Foredom model from WASCO.  I like it, yeah it is a little messy but if I worried about not cleaning the shop I wouldn't do this.

I'm a sucker. I believe my Advanced Fleshing Machine would qualify as a real machine.

I got on free and love it.  It works alot better than a knife.  I'm sure if I had a "real machine" I would love it more, but I'v never used one.
