Just as a postscript,it used to take me 15 minutes to skin a hoof and that was when I did a lot of them but left the toe bone in the hoof. After I got done the hoof that I photographed for the tutorial,I timed the other 3 and each of those took from 4 to 5 minutes each using the split hoof method and that includes completely removing the toe bone which is very advantagous for reasons stated in the tutorial.Skinning hooves this way,I can do 4 hooves in the time it would take me to completely skin one out, using the old method. That's why I do it this way.

I did it on an aoudad this weekend that had already been tanned.  The inner soft material was chalky so I got a hollow hoof but worked great.  Took me maybe 20 minutes on the first one then anout 10 on the second.  I filled the hoolow hoof with clay worked great.

Glad that worked for you Darrell.Once you have done one or two you really get the hang of it.It has been awhile since I have done a tanned one.I believe it probably takes longet since the hoof is stiffer. When you skin a fresh one,it should go even faster.
