I promised a baby coon to a taxi net user , and told her it stinks bad! as it is a road kill, I also offered to skin and tan it if she would like.

she's a smart girl.
It smelled so bad, it was green and flattened.
this is how I tanned it. In this tan I used no heater or power head.
I don't like salting either JMO

stinky, green, juicy!

The head was a little flat.....

I used DP to absorb the juice. you can see where the bones were crushed coming out of the skin.
I also used this pure 100% citrus air freshener on the critter and skin for the smell, it has a low pH (5.0) and smells great! you can get it at home depot, good on green belly coyote also.
then in the washer it goes.

look how dirty the water is from a 2 pound coon, I can not see putting this dirty critter in ANY salt or krowtann like this! all this"bacteria" (wash them skins).I let it go the whole cycle rinse and spin. "then right in the pickle" 1 gal water, one pound salt, 3/4 oz formic.

I left it in the pickle for a day then pulled it out and drained it and fleshed it on the wire wheel, I put a cap of degreaser in the pickle and returned it for a second day. look at the grease the tannery degreaser pulled out! note the pickle when this was first placed in then after the degreaser was used, this degreaser is some bad a$$ stuff! that is only one cap I used!

next I put water in the sink with about 2 cups of salt and raised the coon the white is not slippage, it is reflection.

The pH was still a little low so I hung it for an hour then it was at 5.0,

next I mixed the lutan-f and dropped the coon in NO need to neutralize!

Next day it was rinsed oiled and tumbled.

coon is on the way to you tomorrow...see how this compares to your krowtann

and let me know.
