im confused but i guess im dumb, do you super glue the dryer sheet around the hole and pinch it together until it drys.

I use the dryer sheets all the time. Before that I used pickled skin shavings from the fleshing machine. I flatten them even more with a hammer until they were paper thin. Now I just use used dryer sheets.

Bring the edges of the tear together as close as possible. Run some super glue around those edges and then put a piece of sheet over the whole thing and press until the glue kicks. Trim off any excess sheet if you want. Voila hole patched

I have used the thin shavings from shaving down tanned hides (using Quebec's shaving machine). I just put the best pieces in a zip lock and freeze them. I also use the shavings to reinforce the stitch line on thin areas. I use the superglue if the hide and shaving is wet or barge cement if the hide and shaving is dry.

I use masking tape and the Super Glue Gel. Keeps bondo/epoxy/hide paste from leaking through.
