I work for the highways in Alberta . So we have to remove all road kill . Anyway today I found a great horned owl with a leg band on it .I have never seen a band on a owl . Yes I picked it up and being from Canada I got a mounting permit to mount it .That makes 7 horned owls that I have permits for 3 swainsons hawks , and 1 red tail ,that I have permits for , we cover a large area and we patrol the roads every day . We found a ton more Birds but they were all road pizza not mountable .I have 6 owls mounted so far will post pic soon .

YOU SUCK!  I AM SO JEALOUS!  ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  I'm moving long enough to mount one...then I'll leave it up there.  Angry  I just wanna do one.  Smiley  Way cool that it's banded to boot.  Good job...and you've got a cool "job" too.  Road kills some fun stuff.  Grin

Mike, I want your job ... minus the moose. LOL! Just finished the GHO for Calif. Show. It was road kill, but it must have bounced off the car. Great condition

When I was going through college that is what we practiced on. The college would get so many owls and other birds of prey for educational purposes that they would give them to the taxidermy students to do. If only we could have kept them...
