Getting better with age :)

« on: May 12, 2009, 09:20:56 PM »

As I have told y'all, I've been remodeling my shop as I get time.  I have shown you the back, but never all the stuff I've been doing.  I had also replaced the front door with a double paned insulated glass door & paid for the signage to be put on.

Well I come back from the World Show to find out some unknown vandals went on a pellet gun rampage against businesses in town & mine was one of them Undecided  So now after spending over $500 of my hard earned money to make a more respectable looking front on my business, you know, something to be proud of....I get to do it all over again Undecided

It really [expletive deleted]ing sucks....but what you gonna do, I can't dwell on it.  I guess the roof job & a new bedroon airconditioner will be put on hold for a few more months because you really don't budget for vandalism and i'm pretty sure my deductable would be more than the cost of the new door and instalation.

It's just frustrating because i'm putting all my eggs into building this business & $500 is a hell of an un needed shot to take & I can't just stick a piece of plywood over it for the next few months.  Wish I could atleast cut the little bastards faces with some shards of the glass! Cheesy LOL

I wonder if one of those automotive glass repair places could help. They can sometimes repair stone chips and such. I hate people who don't have respect for hard and honest work. That's why I'm in college studying to be a parole officer. Send 'em back.

Ya,  I don't think they can fix that... MAJOR Bummer.  It always seems as soon as you get a little ahead... Murphy goes and throws a wrench in the works...

Hope you figure out who did it and make em pay!

Mike, take the door off the hinges and take to a glass shop. If they quote more than $100 to fix it tell them to f-off and find another.

I cant say much about the kids who did it because I busted out a window or two as a juvenile delinquent. Should of had my ass kicked a number of times.

Andy, this is the low E double paned glass, that crap with the gas in the middle to keep the heat from the sun out and the airconditioning in.  I don't know crap about windows or doors, but I don't see simply putting in another piece of glass as a solution.

BTW, it was damn good meeting you but you disappeared too quickly, I thought you were going to hang around a little while longer Huh

Sorry about the door Michael,

I've replaced one of those before. You need to find a shop that specializes in doors and windows. If they don't have one in stock they should be able to order one for you. The trim around the glass comes off and the glass is attached by a series of screws. Not a difficult repair. Cover the glass with tape before removing, this will keep all the pieces in place while you remove it. Another option to the gas filled would be the type with blinds inside to block the sun. Good luck.

Like a couple of others have said, the insulated glass panel can be replaced.  I have had insulated panels replaced in my vinyl windows.   I carried the window unit to a glass  shop, they took it apart and measured it, and ordered the panel.  When it came in, I took the unit back and they installed it.   A panel about half the size of your door only set me back $40.
