I have read that skulls should be degreased with ammonia and detergent. Can anybody tell me how much ammonia should be added per gallon of water.

You may have read about folks who degrease w/ water & Dawn--- some add a cup or two of ammonia to the degreasing-solution.  I have degreased bear skulls in pure-- off-the-shelf ammonia-- keep your nose away from the container--ha, ha and the ammonia works great---

Since I've tried Dawn and water (heated to around 90F) I have stopped using ammonia--  Dawn smells a lot better and does just a good a job--
