The Week in Fish Pictures" ~Year 3~ Week # 35

A very warm and hardy Hello from Hinsdale New Hampshire! I sure do hope that your spring is going well and that fish are coming in the door of your shops!  I know for most it is hard to ride the waves out in a recession and I know some have to get alternative employment which is some times what it takes to get by. Just know that weather you are a part time taxidermist or a full time taxidermist you have the power to do one thing regarding your business with your customers and that is manage your process.
In some cases when crisis hits folks may feel the need to lower the prices of their work but this almost never works or benefits you in the end. I bring this up as I read some of the stories of struggle and hardship. Times changes and with the good times there will be hard times to but there will be good times again for sure. Be steady and ride it out do not lower your prices as it will be hard to raise them once you let your clients know you can and are willing to change prices to meet the times good or bad.  In so many cases what you do and what you offer is a value to being with so don’t make it worth less then what it is worth to begin with!

So many Talented and gifted fish artists come here each and every week and share with us their passion and inspiration we all can use to motivate us to the next level of satisfaction and success!

Let's start of the week recognizing those who shared their wonderful work with all of us!

A great week Fishheads!!!!!
From beginner's to the best in the world we all join in every week in a critique free and hassle free string with nothing more then great artist and inspiring fish taxidermist and carves get together to share with one another their praise and inspiration of good will and friendship to one another.

Trashfish.........good meeting you at the World Show. That laker display was very ambitious. Buggers to mount. Now, not knowing much about competition, I would think complexity such as this must figure in somehow. Let's face it, it is quite a bit more difficult to pull off a piece like this than some other entries I saw. I know there are single fish, group fish, etc., but the degree of difficulty on this one seems like it must weigh into the equation of a ribbon. I would like like to learn more about how this equates. That repaint is sweet. Customer must have been ecstatic. While part of me likes to restore ol' buggers like this, it usually does not pay well. Yet, it is satisfying. Enjoyed meeting lots of folks at the show. Wish I had attended more of the fish seminars, and gotten around a bit more than I did. I can't believe how far away some folks came from.....like the nice ladies and gentleman from New Zealand. It has been a long time since I have talked with Ron "Catfish" Kelly........but that was nice, especially seeing how talented his son Josh turned out and seeing them both do well. Psycho, Russ, and yes, even Michael P. .........room 920 was a real hoot. I think I bailed out at just about the right time...just not much of a social butterfly like my buddy Garth.I tried to get him to redo his outfit at Bass Pro Shop, but it was in vain. Pescado.......glad to meet another sushi afficianado.....it is amazing after gutting som many fish we still have any taste for the raw stuff. Really sold on that airbrush.......did hours of detailing today without dry tip, or any hassles at all. Evelyn......I almost petted that cat until I realized.....ooops....freeze dry! LOL I still can't believe what some artists create and lug around the world. Glad all I had to bring was an airbrush, and even at that, broke a bottle of lacquer that stunk up an entire floor of a hotel that will remain unnamed. Beautiful town too......would not mind living there except I am a die-hard cheesehead.
