The Week in Fish Pictures" ~Year 3~ Week # 36

A very warm and hardy Monday afternoon from Hinsdale New Hampshire! Kathie and I just got home from Orillia, Canada and the Canada Taxidermist Association annual Convention and Championships. What a wonderful show and absolutely incredible work! The hospitality and the warm genuine fellowship of the taxidermist in Canada is some thing that must be mentioned! Only 2 hours from Toronto this show makes it a show that one can attend from the northeast and some of the mid west! A great spot to see a show and a little vacation in Canada if time allows as this area is full of beautiful lakes and wonderful tourist sites!

So many Talented and gifted fish artists come here each and every week and share with us their passion and inspiration we all can use to motivate us to the next level of satisfaction and success!

Let's start of the week recognizing those who shared their wonderful work with all of us!

Alabamarutandstrut!!!! Cool little fish and I want to thank you for sharing this work you have done well this week!

Trapperr!!! WOW man that is one killer Bass! Way to go!

UFD!!!! Dave I will tell you that your avatar looks very ominous to me! The fish you share this week will truly inspire many for years to come to see what is possible if you work ever so hard and study even harder! Those that know you only from pictures should know that one of your great assets and strengths to your ability is your effortless pursuit to study and practice! This is the key to greatness and to the beauty that your share which inspires all of us!

Aaron Stehling!!!! Aaron what a great body of work you share this week! Man the work is breathtaking and so well done! This shares the range of your ability that a professional taxidermist must possess to do the consistent quality work you do as well as the knowledge it takes to make a living at taxidermy! Well done and your clients will be so happy!

Fishmedic!!!! Wonderful Bass this week form you love the soft detail work you have done!

Wishbone!!!! You have done a incredible job on this Bass! Fantastic work Steven I wish my 100 Bass looked as good as your 3rd!

I want to thank all of the great contributors who really show not only great talent and work but rather give such inspiration to all of us!

A great week Fishheads!!!!!
From beginner's to the best in the world we all join in every week in a critique free and hassle free string with nothing more then great artist and inspiring fish taxidermist and carves get together to share with one another their praise and inspiration of good will and friendship to one another.

I would like to start this week with a new contributor to the week in fish pictures. Mr. Dave Baxter of the Seattle Washington area of the Pacific Northwest! As we have grown to know that there are many talented fishhead who reside in this are of the USA and Dave is no exception to this phenomenon. Mr. Baxter came to New Hampshire and spent 10 days working on several fish including the ones that we share this week. Dave is a thoughtful and diligent fishhead whom I know we will see some cool fish work from!  Welcome Dave to The Week in Fish Pictures and to the wonderful world of fishheads!

I hope you enjoy the fish work of Mr. Dave Baxter!

So here goes!

I hope you enjoy the week!

So with out further ado let's get week # 36 under way.

So here we go and here is to a great week in fish pictures!!!! # 36 Enjoy!

My Best!

You're Friend
Rick Krane

Here is the beautiful work of Mr. Dave Baxter!

Here is a Silver transition Coho as it would be in the first few days of the river journey to spawn! I have to make mention that this was a very old reproduction that Dave had brought. I make mention of this as a great deal of work had to be done to this repro first before he could begin to paint. The head and the fins all need to be reworked and cut of to depict a more visually pleasing look. I mention this as in some cases this must be done. I personally did not have high expectations to this fish as it had no scale detail literally and as a beginner it is hard to achieve such a look of a silver fish with out a few practice runs. Well Dave my friend you nailed it!

Here is a close up of the head work Dave did! The gill cover had to be reconstructed and the entire head detail was added back in. The eye is a Still life creation hand painted to give the most realistic look I think today thus far!

The thought of hand painting each and every scale can be a bit overwhelming however recreating them can be seriously nerve racking. Dave was taught to break it down ion to small areas and remember the small parts become a whole. Well done Dave! Here is a picture of the scale work Dave’s hand painted effort created from scratch not a lot of airbrush work but Liquid scales will do the task very very nicely!!!!

Here is a Lake Country Walleye reproduction Dave completes at his Anglers Artistry workshop.

Here is a head shot of his Walleye!

WOW!
I love the coho!

That transitional stage is my favorite.

Here is a fish from me this week.

Freshwater drum, custom replica.

This fish was a HOG!
The finished piece was mounted on driftwwod.

I have been out of town on and off since may, and am headed back out tomorrow for a week.
I missed a few week in pictures and am going back through them all.
Beautiful work everyone.
Keep posting pics. It gets us all fired up and working harder.

Hi everyone. Here is an Australian Eel Tailed Catfish. Custom moulded for a customer. This fish was from a local dam that has a lot of black silt on the dam floor. Everything in it has a very dark shade about them like the yabbies, shrimps & turtles. Great work everyone, i love those big cohos & fish like that. Tony.

Just more of the usual Wisconsin bread and butter fish. I will get a smallie photo for Manny up probably tomorrow. An attempt to show a paint schedule that is simple and fast.
