Coyote tanning

I just checked on a coyote skin tonight. I salted for 5 days the pickled and used nutrealized then brushed on McKenzie tan. the inside of its legs did not turn white as I expected. Is that normal. tomorrow I will oil it then hang to dry. It is going to be a tube rug. Not for mounting. I did the dorsal cut so I may or may not sew up the incision from rear right leg to rear left leg, and above each paw to turn inside out.

That's normal for any rub on tan. As it dries pull the skin aprat to stretch it. This will help in making what is brown to a white color.

I have noticed that. I was kind of thinking that that was part of breaking the hide to soften. But my shop is in a cold basement and it takes forever it seems to dry mounts and rugs and things. even with a fan. So I will usually bring things upstairs into my dining room/showroom to dry for the last week. Thank You
