One of the most memorable NW Permit Zone goose hunts I've ever had. Solo hunt today. Limit of four dark geese (two adult honkers and two adult cacklers) Then the bonus.... a lost Black Brant that got blown in with the recent storms. This is a mounter! Nice adult breeding age male. I've been hunting them when I can on the coast during our two week season going on now and have had no luck. I saw this guy today and set up with what seemed like a hopeless plan, but he eventually came in with a group of about 3,000 cacklers and walked into range clear of the other birds and I made the shot count. I thought my heart was going to jump through my chest and out of the layout blind from the excitement building before the shot. Funny thing is I couldn't hunt the coast today because of the high winds. Today's goose hunt was my backup plan. This brant should have never been this far inland...

Thought i would share a picture that one of the hunters sent me.  Every year he sends my dad or myself great pictures of our dogs while they work.  This particular group of hunters are great people to hunt with and we look forward to hunting with them every year.  First day we killed limit of thirty six ducks, second day they killed a limit of specks and pintails, and one snow.  Goose hunting has been slow getting started.....not enough young birds.  Anyhow.... here is "Sprig".

Holy crap Pat...do you even work any more???  Kiss  Anyway, he is my opener, yes I said my opener. Been way to busy to get any waterfowling in, but I took my youngest son Wyatt and went chasing those big white birds yesterday. We both ended up tagging out last night. I had a blast watching my son yet again take another swan. Love the memories were making!!!

Wyatt's 1st Swan from last year 2008. This bird was a pig.

Cheesy Cheesy.... I have a problem when waterfowl seasons come around. I certainly don't get as much done. Its tough to stay focused when new storms push in and more birds arrive. The ducks and geese won't stop calling me back out  Huh  Huh

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Jeff those swans are great. Like you said you're making great memories too!

Happy Thanksgiving all!!!
