Well they finally closed the plant down this week so i was able to make it out a few times. A couple of one man limits, it sucks hunting by yourself, on a good day its 6 ducks and you're done, today I went out layout shooting and i couldn't connect on that sixth duck no matter how hard i tried. since i already had my ONE can and ONE black. It was dark this morning and i couldn't risk it.... you know. I have shot a few banded birds but that was my first banded black. Hope everyone had a great turkey day!

First day at the lake, and I am skunked.
I saw one could of birds working the upper part of the lake, but I didn't hear any shooting there. The only shooting was from the lower end of the lake.
I had about 20 grebes swim into my decoys, one almost got it, cause at first I thought it was a coot.
I did get some nice shot of the sunrise and Gunner.

this mornings take in the snow, would have been better if the wind hadn't kept blowing our blind apart spent as much time outside it puting the brush back up as we did inside it but had these 2 cupped with feet down i love to kill ducks but it really is all about the quality of the hunt and not just the quantity of birds harvested.
tearing down

I just got back from a whirlwind two day trip to Washington state with my Dad. We got up there Sunday morning and met up with a good friend of mine. I haven't slept much over the last few days, but I'm happy with what we came home with...
The first bird I shot on Sunday-
My seaducks at the end of the morning-
Custom Don Mintz decoys and our two harlequins-
The first bird I shot today... (Barrow's x Common)-
When we were done-

My first hunt this year on Long Island. We went after the puddlers and divers in the morning and switched to sea ducks in the afternoon. We had another drake bufflehead from the morning hunt, but the other taxidermist with me already had him in the freezer for a mount!
