Wish I had pics of the two teal we killed this a.m.  Actually we saw more alligators than teal.  Slow morning.  Nothing like getting to your spot and looking around with headlamps and counting the gators and using both hands to add them up.

Today was the last day of our September honker season. I never did get into any great amounts of geese, but I'm hunting less than ten minutes from the house and spending an hour or two at a time out there at the most. I feel pretty good about being able to take one or two here and there. I keep forgetting to get any good pictures with a real camera, but I'll post a few more from the crappy cell phone cam from earlier.

The spread waiting for birds to return to the water after feeding in fields...

The one that did return by itself and attempted to join plastic friends (pic taken of spread is about where this goose hit the water)...

One shot and one dead goose...

I thought you all might want to see what a 10 and 13 year old can do when dad buys the ammo. Wink Talk about pins, a lot of the feathers were still fully sheathed! Shocked Teal, woodies, and mallards - good eaters! They are already bugging me to kabob them on the grill. '09 MN Youth Waterfowl Day

Good going Steve! They look really happy. I can't wait until my girls actually want to get out there to hunt with me. The oldest (almost 5yrs.) wants a purple shotgun..... Roll Eyes We'll see how well that works  Cheesy  Grin.

Thanks Pat, yeah, I think dad's a better guide than a hunter. Undecided

When your daughter is old enough to shoot, I guess you'll have to break out the spray can! Shocked

We managed to get five boys away from the tv for a few hours saturday morning for the youth hunt. When the large flock was setting down i could here my boy and 1 other boy as they were getting excited as they watched the birds pile into the decoys. I think all five are hooked.
