LOL it really was bad Lisa. Amazingly, it didn't spray! I kept hitting the bag with whatever I could find in my car.. water bottles, junkmail, my purse.. trying to keep it down inside the bag.. finally I come flying into the driveway like a racecar at a pitstop, yanked that bag out and bludgeoned it to death with a rock. It was all I could manage to do at the moment!! (Skunks are very common carriers of rabies, so being up close and personal with a live skunk really was dangerous!!)

Amy...I have a question!  What did your neighbors think?!?  Seeing a woman come racing in the drive way...grab a bag out of the front and proceed to beat on it with a rock?!?  They probably already think you're nuts anyway...my neighbors do...the whole female taxidermist thing...heck the whole taxidermy thing...but if I started beating on bags in the drive way they'd call the nice guys with mellow voices and big soft white yet tight jackets that have all the shiny buckles on them!  LOL

I have yet to have one release any smell. When shot with a shotgun. Not sure if it's the shock or what?
Like shooting ground hogs. Shoot one with a shot gun and they dont even flag their tails.

BULL S$IT  I did that once to keep one of my bird dogs form getting at it and boy howdy did that sucker spray, I didn't realize how much juice them suckers had until I did that.LOL

Come to think of it I really don't mind the smell unless it is full force and in my nose at less than2 feet.

I'm with Jason too....I had two living under my house.  Caught them out by my trap but wouldn't go in it.  They died of lead poison, but one of them got under my house and died.  Got to stay at my Mother-in-laws for 3 days till my landlord crawled under the house and drug it out.  I was told that if you are using a small cage, that they can't spray if they can't straighten their legs.  Or was it raise their tail? Then just take a 55 gal drum and dunk them.  And by the way, if anybody is TRYING to catch a skunk, apparently they love TARTER SAUCE.

We put down skunks frequently when live trapping them at work in hav-a-hart traps.  Cover them so they calm down.  Place in a large black trash bag.  Open end of hose from CO 2 tank taped into bag and bag sealed tight with tape.  Crack open the valve slightly and let the little sucker fall asleep.

You can get CO 2 tanks from air gas supply companies or from places that sell CO 2 for beer & soda taps.

Working great for the last 9 years without one single skunk spray.
