My 18 yr old "male" av bird has laid 2 eggs!

I have a "failed captive re-hab" marbled murrelet in the freezer. They are either threatened or endangerd, depending on who you talk to.
She is going to end up being only a study skin, though, because the vet who necropsied her demolished her so badly that I can't salvage her - even with creative posing.
For starters, she had a clipped wing. Then she fought her enclosure enough to make BOTH wings (and her tail) look like ratty bottle brushes.
Then she died. The vet sliced her "good" side open with shears -- skin, bone, meat, FEATHERS and all -- and topped that insult by clipping off one entire leg. And keeping it!

What a waste.
She was a real cutie. Not colorful, but such a tiny little waterfowl to have such a big attitude, (according to her keepers,) She's no bigger than a starling.

I can't prove it, but I suspect that this might be a picture of her when she was still alive. Note the missing wing feathers and the "indoor aquarium" appearance of the water. Plus, in the wild they are next to impossible to approach this closely.

Daniel, they are related to auks, puffins, murres, and etc, but they are one of the smallest ones in the family and this particular species is only found in very specific places.
They nest very high off of the ground on moss-covered limbs of old-growth trees, and there aren't a lot of places left where old-growth forest comes close to the ocean.

Nancy that i think Daniel mean is that name of the bird: little auk / Dovekie.17-20 cm long. because if it is the same bird so are they very common here in Norway and much more common on Island i think.
and i mean they can entrap them on Island to. i am not sure

They are very similar in general appearance to a dovekie, except a little bit bigger, but not the same species at all.
In breeding plumage they turn a mottled brown, almost like a grouse or hen pheasant, whereas most of the other alcids become sharply black and white.
