hello every body from Iran,
Francois nice king fisher but i think it's not rare for me ,i was in hunting today and saw one of them, with exactly similar colors on wings!!!of coarse it was very faster than that i can see details, but colors was that!!!!of coarse when i look at  ur bird precisely it sounds larger,i guess i saw ALCEDO ATTHIS ,but ur bird is similar to the HALCYON SMYRNENSIS IN SIZE AND BILL SHAPE.maybe i make mistake!

I took these pics at the Natural History Museum in Washington DC.  Lower level has some neglected, really pathetic, shameful, dusty, horrible mounts of some amazing birds.  It almost made me cry to see those magnificient birds in such a neglected state.

These are all North American Birds.

Heath Hen (Now Extinct)

Carolina Parakeet (Now Extinct)

Passenger Pigeon Pair (Now Extinct)

Nice pictures, they are not so nice stuffed, maybe a good taxidermist can contact the museum an make something nice of them.
I love the Caroline parakeet, shall i ask them to send it to me, so that i can restuffed it again. The only problem will be sending it back to them, i think i keep it for my own collection Shocked Shocked Shocked

Question for Bowerbird.  You may have seen the images before but what is the Parrot at the back of this image to the right?  You can just make out its face.yellow with orange cheeks
