My first snake is drying, wondering , do you paint or not to paint? Do you seal with fungal sealer like fish then paint or just give it a coat of satin gloss? I should say at this time (week) it doesn't look like it has lost much of the coloring.

Most snakes do not need painting.  Depending on the mount, some may need some paint.  In most cases use transparent colors instead of opaque, it just depends on what you want to achieve.  I would not use satin gloss, instead I would recommend a matte finish.

Just my opinion, others may do things different.

Do you use the fungal sealer then matte finish or is there a need for the fungal sealer at all?

SND, sounds like you could use Tom Voyers snake mounting DVD he just released.  I think it will answer just about any and every question you have and it would be a inexpensive investment.  Good Luck.  Dan
