orange stain on yote skull

stain wasnt there untill about halfway through degreasing process.....its one of my personal skulls so not a big deal, I just want to know what caused it and if it can be fixed incase it happens to a customers...

it was beetle cleaned and degreased in dawn water and ammonia combo, withened with BO......

can this be cleaned off, I may try t he tea leave trick to make the skull match if it cant be cleaned.......  any thoughts ?

Did it come into contact with metal at all? Or metal of any type in the container?

there are metal handles on the buckets, but they dont come in cotact with the skulls, or the water the skulls are in.  that coyote was in a bicket with a beaver and a small bear - none of them have any staining......  I was hoping this would turn out nice, biggest coyote i have and with perfect teeth, it was going to be in my collection........

i don't know much about your process but it almost looks burned. i don't know if skulls can burn like that, but thats what it looks like to me. does it smell like it was burned?

Agreed. Possibly burned. If you were using a heater in the water, was it touching the casing to it?

Your pictures didn't come up for me but orange or rust color on a dog skull is usually grease. Straight ammonia for a 7-10 days.

i use an allied bucket heater and 2.5 gallon buckets in a 25 gallon tub.  so i doubt it got burned, the cover of the heater may have touched the bucket, but i would think that would have melted before the skull got burned ? I am not sure what would have caused this but the skull looks like crap with it, lol... I just want to make sure i avoid this on a customers skull

Ive read the prior post - this is differnt I think... there was no orange stain before - it showed up halfway through thr degreasing....i guess i will try some iron out - have nothing to lose
