is needed to tan an elk cape?  I've been mixing 15 gallons, would 10 be enough.

For Vat or Garbage Can tanning - Weigh it! For every 1 Lb. of Wet Drained Skin Weight add 2 Quarts of Water, 3 Ozs. of Salt and 1 Oz. of Lutan F. That way you dont waste it! And it works every time!

Use a Bath Scale. Stand on it with your bucket empty - record your combined weight! Then add the skins or capes and record the weight again. Subtract the first weight from the second, round it off to the largest pound (14 Lbs. 6 Ozs. = 15 Lbs.). Use that weight for your mixing.
