Bad dealings with Great Lakes Tannery

Has anyone used Great Lakes Tannery for anything?
The owner "Doug" was selling his fathers old copies of how to tan skins on eBay, I got sucked into buying them buy Doug who said if I had any questions he would be more than happy to answer for me. "WRONG". the DVD's cost me around $120aud, they play and freeze constantly in my brand new Pioneer dvd player. ( all other dvds play just fine).
He said he would send me new disks, over a month now and nothing. No help was given regarding the questions I asked and to top it off, who in the modern age of tanning still uses "Sulphuric acid and Aluminuim sulphate" to tan capes and flat skins?
What a rip off Doug, I wont be recommending him or his dvds to anyone. Sorry. thats the way it is.

There are ALOT of folks out there tanning with aluminum sulphate, in one form or another, AND DONT EVEN KNOW IT! Sulphuric acid, though, has always been the "great mistake", when used as a pickling acid, just like oxalic acid.

Aluminum sulphate, is the MAIN ingredient, in almost EVERY tan I can think of, being sold to Taxidermists, except phenolics. The aluminum sulphate is sold, under different names, with the CLAIMS of monomerizing, polymerizing, and the addition of buffers, and masking agents. THE MAIN INGREDIENT, remains the same.

Sulphuric acid, is EXTREMELY hard to neutralise! The standard neutralisation formula, everyone gives on here, of 1oz of baking soda, and a little salt, per gallon of water, and the time in the bath, does NOT work, on sulphuric!

Good luck to ya, and I hope you get your DVD's. Never seen one, but DONT use the sulphuric!
