Wow how can you do this for that price ?? that means a full mount would be around $1200.
Just wondering how you could do it with, Tanning and cost of the form . teeth, eyes  hide paste paint time with the customer skinning ??/not a very good hourly rate ..

i was looking on some websites and looks like the rule of thumb on half mounts is 50 to 70 percent of a full mount  if thats the case the last full mount i did was $3000 with a nice base so if i take off $500 for the base then take 60 percent of $2500 thats $1500 that sounds pretty good to me.

I just finished one up and the bill was $1100.00.  Not quite what I have on my price list but I thought it was a fair price.  My price list says 70% of life size and $125.00 for open mouth.

sounds like I'm way off, I have never done one  only shldr mounts in my shop  and full life size in other shops so I'm only estimating my time   but how much more time does a half life size take than a shoulder mt.  what does it take an extra hr in skinning the front feet and  in prepping the legs  and an extra 30 min of sewing the legs?  Everything else I can figure easily tanning is a fixed ammount  form  is a  fixed cost ?  ..................OK let me ask you this  what is a closed mouth bear shoulder compared to in price to a wt shoulder in your area.    I send my bears out  and do my wt in house  they take me the same ammount of time and forms cost dang near the same  so I price my bear shoulder mounts  just like I would a WT  pluss the added cost of sending out to a tannery and shipping.

Yes you ask them........... Before you qoute the price... Most all hunters will brag the weight up a bit anyway..

Head and shoulder black bear are  $575.00 closed mouth and $125.00 more for open.. any habitat add ons are extra..

Standard WT Deer wall mounts are $595.00

Good to see you again Alex.... Maybe we can retire together someday..

Instead of trying to justify low prices I would be looking at every way possible to raise them.

Im at 750 for a shoulder mount, 1500.00 for half life size and 3000 and up for life size..   My deer are at 600.  And bear is more work than a deer.. Specially having to deal with those heavy stinky greasy things compared to a deer..
