Thanks for the nice compliments on my fish everyone. Jimmy, LOL, "King of Largemouths" LOL. Is that good or bad?  Cheesy No king here, just a fish head trying to make a living.
Den, nice fish scene. Randy, you made those fish blanks look good with your paint jobs. I think I may purchase some of those to make a quick buck.
Everyone have a great week.

Brian glad you like those gills. I'll be painting one of them for my seminar at the Michigan show in March and will be donating it for the auction. I've finished 6 of those lead based monsters in the last two weeks. Can't wait to see what you'll be bringing. For some reason I keep thinking how I can get some air with one of my competition entries.

Haven't posted in a while, but here's a 7 1/2" white crappie reproduction. My first attempt at a bondo mold.

I had no glass eye that would fit, so I carved a negative then painted the eye and built up the lens with Moge Poge. Smiley

Also, here is a hugh 18" AP crappie that I painted up.

The picture doesn't show the scale tipping so here's a video.

These are the first crappie I've worked on in about 25 years. Grin

Please go here to critique.

This is a AP LB BC18. It's really a pretty decent blank except for a few things. One of those things I didn't even notice until I started painting is that there are no dorsal or anal fin spines. I think only us fish heads would notice things like that. They are all sculpted in fin rays. I did not modify this blank at all just opened the box and painted. I'm done painting these things for awhile and just going to sit on some for something to do when I get bored this winter.

Travis I thought that Bass looked pretty good before you got a hold of it but man what a make over you did. Your work is superb.

Carl nice going on the Crappie. Hard to believe you've taken 25 years off.

Why the make-over Travis?  Did he just want the fish darker like you painted?
Spadefish looks real nice!

Yeah Gary, my customer is really set on having his mounts painted to the actual fish that is caught. This has been the case on all his mounts. Tylers fish here was a darker river bass and they weren't satified with the way it was. The original paint job wasn't that bad but they wanted a darker more detailed mount thats all.

The original mount is NOT my work. I'll have to go back and make that clear.

Thanks Randy!

No I don't intend on bad mouthing anyone. I just wanted to show a before and after and be as nice about it as possible. You made a good point and don't want to cause problems so I may go back AGAIN and delete the before photo.
