I'll play devils advocate, well almost. Perhaps we all have and didn't know it. If that's the case, and you don't know it, you haven't lost it.

Now, pehaps the question should be, how many of you have had customers approached by them because they were somehow involved in the handling of their trophies before they got to you?

For that question I'd say no.

Your normal gamehead/bird/fish shops probably never will....the guys with high end clients might run a risk with them. These are the type clients WG appears to be courting with their advertising. If anything other than advertising is occuring that I suppose is yet to be seen. Time will tell on this question Ron but it certainly is a GOOD question. Let the tales of woe be told by all comers with tales to tell.

We had to talk with someone from WG about an order the other day. He said he noticed that we had sent thru a lot of stuff lately. So, are they keeping tabs on which shops are the busiest?  We were just cleaning out some stuff in the freezer so it probably looked like were busy when were not,LOL!!!

We had a long time customer approached to have a couple caribou done at the camp they went hunting. They did the velvet preservation and tanning but we ended up getting the mounts. They did sock them for what they did though. ,Mark

Now how the hell are we supposed to measure how many customers we have lost.  I have 2 near misses from clients that had their hides shipped directly to the WG from the outfitter.  They were called by the WG, and even after telling them I was their taxidermist, they still got the presentation on how great their taxidermy was and how quick the turn around time was.  So how many have I lost that i don't know about?  I'd be just plain stupid to EVER send them anything, period.

I continue to be baffled at why ANYONE would consider sending tanning to a tannery that actively recruits their taxidermy customers.  And is anyone stupid enough to really think their skins are being tanned as fast as the WG skins are being tanned?  Come on now.  They offer an awesome turnaround time, and have the ability to keep anyone else from doing the same by tanning their hides at a slower pace.  Am I supposed to believe they will play fair and tan mine just as fast?  What a load of [expletive deleted]ing crap!  Great idea for them, but I'm not having anything to do with supporting it in any way shape or form.

That comment is out in left field and lacks any resemblence of logic.

Yes it is.  One of the dumbest things i have heard in a while.  So if i stand outside your taxidermy business and steal your customers before they walk in and you don't know about them, does that mean you never lost them?
