oh  cmon now guys   theres all sorts of ways one finds out about clientel.... But for all the threads about this  and everyone complaining,,,  I started to wonder just how many known losses have "we " suffered?Huh   The tannery in question does very good work  on their clients tanning as well as all the other tanning do they not?

secondly,,,,, when i send hides to tanneries,,, most are marked only with my punch codes  so the only client identified with that shipment is me.....I dont know how they would find out my clients from that......

I asked a simple question,  of how many known losses.....

I think what most don't understand is that it's not the deer and such like that you are sending to have tanned but the Safari work and large out of area jobs like Caribou and Bear hunters that you have the outfitter or clearance company send direct to that tannery for you then they have the name and address of your client.

This stuff has gone on for years that's why along time ago I set up my USDA so I don't have to use the tanniers permit to do the final clearing of out of country trophies so it all comes in here and I do the final shipping to the tannery.

PM sent.

The Wildlife Gallery called here from the Kerrville location yesterday soliciting my business.  I returned the call and asked about turn around and was told 90-120 days.  I then asked the simple question everybody should.....................

"You tell me you can have my capes back to me in a 90-120 days, but I am sitting here looking at your website where you are telling my potential clients that you can have their entire deer head ready for pick up in 90 days or less. Tell me one COMMON SENSE reason I should give my business to a tannery that is telling my potential customer that they can have their completed shoulder mount back quicker than I can even get my clients tanned skin back.  Tell me one reason after all of that I should even consider using you?"   There was silence & then the guy very nicely said Thank You very much & we both hung up.

Sorry Ron, you can defend all you want, I do know friends who's clients have been contacted  by them after the broker delivered the african skins there.   Why haven't you responded to Marty's post yet or did you just happen to miss that one in between tokes Huh  Wink Cheesy  LMAO!!!!!  (luv ya ron)

Wow, you have just taken the lead for the most ignorant thing I have heard in a long time.  I wonder if it even deserves a response........well I am bored so here goes.  My client got my card at a sporting goods store when he saw my work.  Put it in his pocket and took it to Canada hunting Caribou.  He gets 2 Caribou, and decides to have them mounted.  The guide he was using salted them and advised him to send them to the WG to be tanned.  Client agrees.  Client gets home and calls me.  This is where I enter the picture.  He lets me know the hides are on the way to the WG and that he wants them sent to me for me to do the mounts locally.  I agree.  Client then receives a couple calls from the WG asking if he has a taxidermist, to which he says he has one locally.  Client then gets the speech about how he can get them mounted by the WG faster, and at better quality.  Client says no, send them to his taxidermist.  Has the same call a few days later, answers the same way.  Now would I normally give a tannery my client list.....hell no.  But when that client said he had a taxidermist, that should have been the end of it.  It was not, and the client let me know.  That is where I drew the line and said they will get no more of my business.....EVER.  So before you just run off at the mouth get your facts straight.  If you want to help them profit because they give you a great tan, go for it.  They will be sure to get your hides back to you AFTER they have already tanned and mounted hides for clients they took from you.  Just plain bad business for me to give them any of my money.

ok so what if you are getting your tanned capes back at the same time or later than what they are mounting for their clients?Huh?  I think i read that you will be able to get your skins back in 45-60days......  even if its 90 days, tell me who does a quicker turnaround time with their quality or better.   fine don't use them use some other tannery and have it back in 4-5 months, thats still longer turnaround time.
