that one you showed Leslie is in surprisingly good shape for the age, and it looks like the taxidermist actually did a pretty good job on it..

I know the taxidemist that mounted that deer.  His Shop is still open in Johnston NY.   He also opened a wildlife museum.

Bob's still mounting and has devoted his life, for the last 30 years of haveing a museum for the publis to enjoy. Dealt with Bob for over 30 years, the man knows his stuff and has worked on thousands of mounts over the years. His museum is a product that you've got to see. Repoes of all the famous bucks, that were done by the area taxidermist in the area. The display is great, plus all the history of the Aderondack area, if you ever get the chance if in the area its worth $10. to take the tour.

I've still got one of the paper forms that I bought back in '72, a sneak with open mouth. I just use it for display of the times.

Thanks Leslie for showing your old find of a mount. I have a few, but still not sure when they were made. Mine look like from about that time also or later. I like how the information on that backboard progressed with this bucks history on the wall. Thanks again for sharing.

My great grandfather was born in 1900, he shot his first deer at age 12, (1912) and had a shoulder mount done.. It was always hanging in the fornt porch of the house for as long as i could remember.. I it had 2 buck knifes (1 on each browtine).. perfect 8 point 140" deer), When he passed in 1989, I was given one knife, years later I received the other.. but my fricking aunt.. who has NO taxidermy.. doesnt hunt, doesnt even know what a dam deer is got the deer head.. its in her garage now just wasting away some more.. Now I have to hope I outlive her and then I can get that deer.. I wonder what kind of form or materials its made of?.. And for being done in 1912, its not horrific looking.. I do think they eyes came from Buck though..

Bob made the form, don't know if he mounted it or not.  Rhonda has it in FL.  Do you know the history on the form you shared Rhonda ?  Just curious.  Smiley

I think you can still buy woosterline forms in paper although they switched to foam since. I wish I had kept some of those old paper forms, nowadays I love to collect that old stuff. If anyone has an old paper form, especially one in that good of condition, please let me know if youre interested in swapping, etc. Leslie, if you let me at that mount, Ill let you play with your good buddy BlackJack somemore at my place!  Well, right after the rut...Wink Wink Wink Seriously, if someone has an old form or mount, really old, kickin around that doesnt mean anything to them, let me know!
