George, your thoughts mirrored mine.  I was thinking logging with axes, and crosscut saws, paddles in place of electric trolling motors, buckets to draw up your well water, paper shotgun shells, etc. etc. I find the idea of a paper form with good detail interesting, and certainly seeing the old woosterline forms is a trip down memory lane, and I do think a competition with paper forms is in order for those who would like to try one.  Wink  It would definately bring out the real artists IMHO.  Smiley

My brother and I  mounted my dads first buck back in early 1970 on a paper form and the mount is still on his living room wall and it looks just like that deer

Sorry bucrapailhunter, you can't make a statement like that without a PICTURE.  I'd REALLY like to see a paper formed mount that resembled a live deer. Or a dead one for that matter.

Bob's still mounting and has devoted his life, for the last 30 years of haveing a museum for the publis to enjoy. Dealt with Bob for over 30 years, the man knows his stuff and has worked on thousands of mounts over the years. His museum is a product that you've got to see. Repoes of all the famous bucks, that were done by the area taxidermist in the area. The display is great, plus all the history of the Aderondack area, if you ever get the chance if in the area its worth $10. to take the tour.

Bob
I am by no means a spelling expert but you misspelled Adirondack. Figured I would fix it so if someone were trying to find it. The look would be easier for them. I grew up just over the hill from that Museum, I would try to slip away as much a possible to go look at the mounts and dream.  In fact, that is where I first started studding Taxidermy.  Never some 30 years earlier did I think I would be doing it as a career, and rubbing elbow with some of the greats of the field today. To all the greats on here thanks for turning my switch on way back when, that is if you can still read this with your bad eyes and all.

I hear you AMM, god the interest started here back in the 60's, even had to wrap excelsior. I was raised probably 12-14 miles east of Bobs place, and finally setteled about 6 miles east of the museum, for the last 40 pls years. Bob has been known for a 100 years, I swear. Did find two of his forms I bout back many moons ago. Also came up with a VD paper one, lot of memories.....

George,

You were right about those links to the past.  I wonder how many antique hunters have had to use a chamber pot, or empty one!

I am so glad this topic came up just to hear about those that used all those older things of yesterday. Just think our ancestors life they had compared to ours and even George knows a little of that pain. Ha ha It is good to know about how we have progressed and to look back at all those older things in appreciation and for all to see and know about even today. It really was not that long ago for many of us.
