I am confused about a law. I live in NC.. I read the laws, but am left confused. I have some Chipmunks I want to mount.. they are not for a customer, just practice. I got them from another state where hunting Chipmunks is legal. Here is the dilemma.. a taxidermist here in NC who I trust VERY much said that even though they are legal in other states, they are protected here, so.. it is illegal for me to possess them and I can not perform taxidermy on them UNLESS they are for a customer out of state.. but I can not keep them on my premises. Then, another taxidermist I trust told me that it is fine as long as there is an open season in other states, I can do them not only for a customer from out of state, but that it is fine that I keep them on the premises as long as I can prove they were not taken in North Carolina. Any suggestions?
