I'm working on a mount right now... I'm still very amateur and this is for a friend.  When I attatched the plate to the mannequin it measured abou ta  2 1/2 finger width about 21-2 inches and that is what the actual deer measured.  But whats wrong with the pic, is it the that the anters are two high, or to far back.  Something dosn't look right.  Oh and I just stuck the eyes on there with clay.... just for the pic....  Wink

any suggestions.

Hi,

You really need to have you some good reference's.  Your antlers set is away to high and set to far back from the eye socket.  On a whitetail when you measure from the back of the eye socket up under the antler burr it is around 1 1/2 inches.  You also need to get you a good eye ref set you have used away to much clay or whatever it is on top of the eye brow.  I have attached a ref photo on how high those antlers should be.  The rule is if you take a straight edge and center it in the center of the nostril and the center of the tear duct it will usually pass directly to the edge of the bottom of the antler burr.  I have attached a photo for you to look at.  Hope this helps.

Best,

John Griffith
