Does anyone have instructions on preparing a study skin for a museum.  I've lost mine.  I know they use cotton but do I wrap a body with a wire inside?  Do I attach the wire to the head?  I'm pretty sure they don't wire the wings or legs...

A good list of publications is in the old archives. Search of "Taxidermologist Chapin"

There is also a PDF available on the Web by Kevin Winker from University of Alaska in Fairbanks.

Winker, K. 2000. Obtaining, preserving, and preparing birds. Journal of Field Ornithology 71:250-297. Detailed guide to procedures in field and laboratory.

Go to his web citation list to get the link http://www.uaf.edu/museum/bird/personnel/KWinker/WinkerCV.html
