SWEET mallards wingman. I dig em both but something about the way the head and neck flow on the front one really makes him come alive. Can see him looking down on a spread already.

Bird works, I see you have a Barbers brush on your work bench too. I love mine.
Sorry I can't contribute right now, but the other day I did a ruffed grouse. Not the best specimen in the world.
I think mine is finally wearing out...I got it from Matuska's about 7 years ago I think. And Hoss, who cares about specimen quality - post 'em up...a thread like this is perfect for just
enjoying
the art
of taxidermy and learning from other bird brains.

I pulled this recent project out of the bag and realized it had no leg bones, no wing bones, no carcass sketch, no measurements...nuffin'! Thanks to Eugene and Dave Luke for all their help in getting it mounted. Now I want to go hunt these in the Yucatan so bad I can taste it

Card em up and tape em down
LOL I have very good luck with the tape holding things in place and stopping any distortion. I could SATURATE

Kings for me...
Salmon that is. And a Specklebelly on deck. I don't mind doing fish, other than they take away from my true passion of waterfowl.

Abyorth, thanks for sharing that pic, very nice.
Hoss, That's some serious grooming going on sir! Love the presentation...(I don't give critiques as I don't believe I'm qualified to do so...I just enjoy seeing the work.)
Meopilite - great bench shot!
Rhodes - those fish bring back memomories...I used to mount 100 deer, 60 predators and about 150 fish a year before I was able to specialize in only birds
daniel - I'm waiting to see some of your great work Sir...or at least a habitat base (ground work)
I got a PM asking me about this thread last night and here's how I explained it:
You can go to a furniture store and see a beautiful table expertly crafted on display OR you can go to where they make them and see them being put together by the wood workers...to me, lots more fun!!
