Somewhere on here somebody posted that after tanning, constrictors such as boas have to be descaled. Why would that be? Is it necessary if only to be used as an educational prop?

I don't know about constrictors but on rattlesnakes and other native snakes you don't want the scales to slip off unless it wad about to shed or the color lightens up and doesn't look right .

The loss of its color is precisely what I was thinking about. I'm wondering why constrictors would be any different from say rattlers.
