Last minute help on first mount ever!
«

I think I'm gonna get started on it tomorrow. But there are a few last minute questions I have before I feel completely confident starting.
1) My hide is case-skinned, how do I get my form inside the skin? Should I cut the skin open? I think the form has wire running all the way through it, so I don't think I would cut it up.
2) For the tail, so I build it up with clay? Or leave it as just the wire.
3) For the feet, I use clay, correct? (:
I'm so excited!

1. you have two options. You could cut the front legs off (you may need to get the wire cutter out), or you could cut down the back of the hide which would be my preference, but theres more sewing involved.
2. you need to build up the tail. Dont just use the wire alone. I often wrap cotton around it, or clay.
3. yes, clay goes in the feet and toes.

It sounds like you should do some homework before you take on your project. Not trying to be smart, but it will go alot smoother for your first if you are better prepared. Sometimes the first mount for some is the breaking point with alot of stress and headaches that didn't need to be. There is a wealth of info on here in the archives that will help you with your first. Good luck and enjoy.

Well I was pretty sure about the answers to all of these questions... I just never asked them, so I wanted to be absolutely sure before I stuck clay everywhere and then didn't need it where I put it!
