What part of CA?  I live in central CA and get several bear each year.  I charge $150 per foot for rugs which is $50 a foot more than my teacher charged.

Couple hours north of Sacramento (around Chico). I'm a part-time taxidermist (full-time teacher by trade) and try to make as much as I can on the few mounts I do a year to pay for my hunting addiction. I just try and charge what I think my time is worth? If I'm going to go out to the shop on weekends and evenings and take time away from my wife and daughter...I'm going to make money at it. I try to run it as a business. Like I said, I don't get many bears...this last year I got in four 1/2 body mounts and three rug bears.

What do people usually charge % wise on half life-sized mounts?  I used to think half equaled 50%, but most people around here charge 75% of a full mount.  I guess because the head is in the front half?
