for a beginner, what would be the easiest? A lifesize coyote or a pedestal? I have a skin for lifesize but I'm sure if I delve around the For Sale section I can find some capes.

If you want a quicker project without any sewing, go for the pedestal. That way you can focus more on the facial features before you do a lifesize.
If you just jump in and do the lifesize, you will get more experience with sewing (lots of it) You will need to bag the mount and work on it for several days (That's what I do for lifesizes anyway, I can't just sew all the legs up in one sitting)

Me, I wish I would have practiced on a couple junk coyote capes and did a couple remounts before I messed up my first lifesize coyote, my own personal kill.

Thanks guys. Made me think twice about it. Where are some good, cheap yote capes? Is there anyone around who has some dry tanned ones?

I'm sure there's plenty of people selling them in the for sale section... best bet would be to pop up to the search, throw in "coyote cape," search the for sale section (versus the whole forum), and look for the most recent threads.

definately check with Bob Wendt for coyotes.  He's got a lot of them and he's a great guy to deal with.  Just my 2 cents worth.  If you are just starting out try to focus on some easy mounts and stay away from open mouth mounts until you get more practice under your belt.

Wish you the best of luck
