Don't know if this is the correct forum for this, but I would appreciate some input about grooming a suri alpaca hide, hair-on, this hide has very long, dreadlock-like hair about 3 feet at the longest, and I would like to keep as much hair and length as possible, and about tanning and grooming an ostrich hide with the feathers on.

Regards,

There are special brushes groomers use to groom them for show so go to the local feed store that stocks grooming supplies for alpacas and llamas, carefully work out the mats, and use a good detangler or condition it well so the tangles come out easier.. Dont jerk the knots out be gentle and work them out slowly. Takes awhile but you wont loose as much...if its matted bad the mats will have alot of loose hair, that cant be helped, just go slow and work it gently Smiley

 Dnt know on the ostrich
