Looking for the best in house tan.  Is the old standby the best?  I'm not wanting to get a fight started on this topic so i'm not looking for anything other than I prefer this tan and what you see as the benefit of that tan.  I'm looking for different ideas to try, I fiqure if I'm not looking for the best results and options for my mounts my customers are getting short changed  If you can use a pressure tanner I would appreciate a breakdown of how you make it work for you. thanks look forward to your replies.  mike

There ain't "one".  There are dozens of them.  Ask a dozen taxidermists and you'll get 12 different answers.  When you find the one you like, you'll have 13.

For me Krowtann has worked for me. I would say a tannery would be best but your looking for a in house tanning so I pick Krowtann.

I would worry more about short changing the customer on the outside of the mount, customers couldn't give two farts on if it was tanned by you and the super duper tan of 2010. Make it look nice on the outside, and then it doesnt matter if it is tanned or Dry Preserved, if it is done right on the fur side.

I agree with George and T, but considering your looking for opinions, if I tan in house I use lutan f. It's easy enough to use and I get plenty of stretch.
I even use it on all my reptiles.

You Krowtann sniffers just don't get it, do you?  Aside from it not being a "tan" to begin with, as Mr. T. stated, a person using good technique can mount presentable animals whether they use Krowtann, Lutan, Kwik-N-EZ, EZ 100, LiquiTan, JRTS, McKenzie Tan, Curatan, Spray Tan, One-Hour Tan, dry preservative or even NOTHING AT ALL.  Because YOU have a favorite doesn't automatically make it better or even compatible for someone else looking for the "best" out there.  GEEZ!!!!!

I agree... just because it works now doesn't mean it will last!  I just looked at someones bear last night, the mount is only 5 years old and stored in a super fancy house - not a garage or basement..  The skin was disintegrating in my hand!  I wish I knew what was used because sure - the hair wasn't falling out - but the entire skin was falling into literal pieces! I smelled it, and it had only a very faint odor of something akin to pine sol.
