The Week in Fish Pictures" ~Year 4~ Week # 39-40 !!!!!!!!

A very warm hello from Two Harbors, Minnesota!! It is beautiful country here in the great northern tears of MN!  So many fantastic taxidermist’s hail from this state! I have spent a few visits here in MN over the past few years and it is a pleasure to be visiting with Mr. Ryan Kiesler of Silver Creek Taxidermy!
I want to send out a special thank you to Travis Jones of Top Quality taxidermy and his entire family for feeding me and taking me in for a enjoyable time of fishing! Anyone who spends time here knows Travis and his outstanding work! I love North Carolina as I think it is one of the most breathtaking States in our great Country! On with The Week In Fish Pictures!

I want to dedicate this week in fish pictures to a mentor and a friend to me Mr. Dale Cornetet of Grand Rapids Michigan. Dale was a very big part of my inspiration and devotion in the art of fish taxidermy. I had the great pleasure to have met Dale years a go at a IGT show and he really reshaped how I looked at fish taxidermy and fish alike! Dale pasted away this past month and I do not stand alone in the heartbreak and sadness of the loss of Mr. Cornetet. Dale touched so many and influenced so many more! A straight shooter and a directly honest man especially when it came to fish and helping others! I do not struggle often to finds words but it juts that I want any one who didn’t know Dale to know how much this fish Master truly meant to our industry! I spoke to Dales long time friend Kevin Perry who told me some great stories about Dale today that made me remember that you must live your life to the fullest! God Bless you Dale and Tank you for all you have done for me and many others to make all of those who you helped better fish taxidermists!

In the past 2 weeks increasable displays of so many fish! I really do personally enjoy seeing the progression and the raw talent of the dedicated contributors! Friendliness and positive comments of motivation is a great place to start in upward direction of inspiration! I wish all the best to folks competing in the up coming months and I do wish all the very best in the pursuits of good fish work!

I do hope you have the opportunity to be thankful for your gifts of great passion and talent as an artist! It is a blessing to me for our lives to be joined from time to time to share and learn from one another so thank you for your great taxidermy work!!!!

I want to personally say thank you for letting me join you again every week in your successes and accomplishments! I have seen first hand the great strides so many have made with beautiful fish work! Good for you and congratulations on your hard work!!!!

Let's start of the week recognizing those who shared their wonderful work with all of us! Thanks for all the beautiful fish work in this past weeks this week in fish pictures! Absolutely breathtaking!!!!!

I want to thank all of the great contributors who really show not only great talent and work but rather give such inspiration to all of us!

A great week Fishheads!!!!!
From beginner's to the best in the world we all join in every week in a critique free and hassle free string with nothing more then great artist and inspiring fish taxidermist and carves get together to share with one another their praise and inspiration of good will and friendship to one another. No egos just friendly folks who appreciate the efforts of others!

This week I want to Dedicate this week in fish pictures to the Late Dale Cornetet of Grand Rapids Michigan… A true Master Taxidermist and a personal inspiration to many! God Bless you Dale!

I hope you enjoy the work of Mr. Dale Cornetet!!!

So here goes!

I hope you enjoy the week! See you in 2 weeks!

So with out further ado let's get week # 39-40 under way.

So here we go and here is to a great week in fish pictures!!!! # 39-40 Enjoy!

My Best!

Great start guys. Nothing finished but I just molded this pig. A 41 inch Laker from Lake Superior. I thought I would show the mold.

Great looking, very natural tiger musky. Not overpainted as some are. I would love to get more of these in, but I always consider it a rare treat.

Rick,

Great to see some examples of of Dale's work, very impressive.  In recent weeks I have read a lot about Dale on the forum and he was clearly a special artist and a great contributor to our industry.  I still find it hard to believe he didn't use an airbrush and the examples of most of his work were hand painted.  A very talented man indeed.

Nice work all but especially like that Musky Jason. I remember Dale's fish and especially the second pic as it was just below my Crappie group of three hangin on the wall behind it at the show this past March (can see part of the third one in the pic...lol).
I do believe it helps in the learning process to witness work like Dale's in person, close up. He will be missed.

Wow, great fish this week. Those muskies are both superb, nice bass Jimmy and great gill Brian. Here is a custom casted and molded replica of an European Grayling, that I caught in Slovenia this June. SLL eyés, first fish for myself in 2 years.

Greetings from Germany

Oliver

I never got to meet Dale, but have seen his work.
Amazing what he could do.
My thoughts to him and those he touched in his life here.

Here are a few new fish from me.
The first is a Roanoke Bass custom replica.
Roanoke bass are very closely related to rockbass and share a similar appearance. The main differences lie in the cheek and dorsal colors. Roanoke bass have a scaleless cheek and gold iridescent spotting on the dorsal surface.

The next is a small Thresher shark display (58"). This was a "Refurbish job" on an old blank.
The blank was originally one sided with no detail on one side. This called for sculpting one side of the fish and rebuilding the mouth and making teeth for the shark.
The kelp is fiberglass over a welded armature. Some artistic license was needed to scale the kelp down to the proper length. It was a fun project.
